What are the Different Types of Ketogenic Diets? Find out

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet. There are several methods to do the ketogenic diet.

Depending on your goals and activity levels, you should choose the right one for you. The 3 main  types of keto diets include:

  • Standard Ketogenic Diet (SKD): SKD is a very-low-carb, moderate protein and high-fat diet. It typically contains 20-50 g of carbohydrate. Your primary sources of carbohydrates on the SKD will be low carb vegetables, nuts, seeds, and high-fat dairy products.
  • Targeted Ketogenic Diet (TKD): TKD consists of eating carbs around workout times and following the SKD at all other times. It allows you to consume carbohydrates on any day you exercise.
  • Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (CKD): CKD combines carb-loading days with the standard ketogenic diet. It is typically used by people who do high-intensity workouts.

If you are a beginner, the standard ketogenic diet is the perfect one to start with. Combining exercise with a ketogenic diet can be useful in controlling blood sugar levels, and losing weight.
