Carrots are a good source of beta carotene, fibre, vitamin K1, potassium, and antioxidants. Carrots are made up of carbs, it doesn’t mean that you can’t eat carrot on keto.
You can include carrot in your diet as small amounts. One medium raw carrot has about 5.8 grams of total carbs and 1.7 grams of fibre, leaving 4.1 grams of net carbs. Health benefits of carrot are:
- Control blood sugar levels: Carrot contains a soluble fibre called pectin which helps in controlling blood sugar levels and slowing the digestion of starch and sugar.
- Promotes weight loss: Carrot is a low-calorie food, and are rich with both soluble and insoluble fibres thus it can increase fullness and decrease calorie intake in subsequent meals making it effective for a weight loss diet.
- Eye health: Carrots are good sources of lutein and beta carotene, the antioxidants that benefit eye health and protect against age-related degenerative eye diseases. Vitamin A present in carrot helps to boost healthy eyesight.
Carrots are keto-friendly if they are used in the right quantities. They are so keto-cooperative as they are very low in calories. However, Carrots are a bit of a grey area on keto. So make sure that you’re eating it on the right amounts.
