Is Tomato keto? How To Use Tomato On A Keto Diet?

A ketogenic diet is a diet plan that put your body in a metabolic state called ketosis in which your body burn fats instead of carbs.

Tomatoes having low carbs are good sources of Vitamin A, C, and K. It contain about 3 grams of net carbs per 100 grams. If you are in a keto diet plan, that doesn’t mean that you have to follow a zero carb diet as you can have low carbs.

Tomatoes have carbohydrates, fiber, low in sugar and have phytonutrients that you may be lacking on a strict keto diet. Therefore tomatoes can be included in a keto diet. But not all tomato products are keto. Tomato paste, tomato sauce, salsa, tomato juice, and even canned tomatoes, contain added sugars which does not fall under the Keto Diet category.

In short, tomatoes are keto friendly if they are used in the right quantities. They are so keto-cooperative as they are very low in calories as well as in sugar. But do consult your dietitian before you make the move.
